The Inter Unit Championship took place at Catterick GC on Wed 10 & Thu 11 Jun, with competitors travelling from across the country to battle it out for one of the most prestigious trophies in Army Golf.
Wednesday’s weather turned out far better than forecast, allowing players to enjoy Catterick’s immaculate course as they completed 36 holes of Stableford competition. Thursday, however, delivered exactly what the forecast had promised – and then some!
With torrential rain creating huge puddles around the course (and even attracting a few ducks onto the 18th green ), the difficult decision was made to cancel the afternoon Stableford round.

Winners – 5 FS Bn REME (A) – 79pts
Runners-Up – 17 P&M Regt RLC – 78pts
Despite the weather, the Matchplay competition pressed on, with tee times brought forward in an effort to get players around before conditions deteriorated further.
Plate
Winners – 9 Regt RLC
Runners-Up – 156 Regt RLC
The Plate Final went right down to the wire, requiring a playoff before a winner could be crowned.

Champions – 3 PWRR (A)
Runners-Up – 2 ITB
A remarkable achievement for 3 PWRR (A), who complete a historic hat-trick of victories, becoming only the third Unit team since records began in 1904 to win the trophy three years in succession!

We are incredibly grateful to the members for allowing us to take over the course for two days, and to the fantastic staff who looked after us throughout: Shireen, Michael, Sarah, Olha, James, Richard, Graham and the greenkeeping team.
Special thanks also to Mike Arnell and Ian Owen for helping officiate the event, and of course to all the players who travelled far and wide to take part. Without you, events like this simply wouldn’t happen.
