Yesterday, the High Handicap Championship took place at Test Valley Golf Club. The weather was slightly better than forecast, but it was still incredibly challenging and wet. Due to several last-minute dropouts, only 36 players teed off in the morning. After a gruelling 18 holes, fatigue started to set in, and ultimately, only 35 brave players completed the 36 holes. Nonetheless, the event was a fantastic success, and it was great to see so many new faces. For some of our golfers, this was their first-ever event, and we are incredibly proud that this championship marks the beginning of their AGA journey.
The top 5 players were:
Champion – Capt James Flood RE with 79 pts
Runner-Up – LCpl Benjamin Lee INF with 77 pts
3rd – Sgt Matthew Myers RA with 77 pts OCB
4th – WO2 Gary McCallum AGC with 76 pts
5th – Lt Col Stephen Day RLC with 75 pts
Congratulations to all the winners and a huge well done to all our newcomers!
A special shoutout to our amazing sponsors – Thales, our headline sponsor, Army Sport, and Comms Spec Ltd. We couldn’t run these events without your incredible support. A massive thank you as well to the Test Valley GC staff for their outstanding support and amazing hosting.
