The Stableford Championship 24 took place from Tue 6 – Wed 7 Aug 24 at the beautiful Whittington Heath Golf Club. Over two days, players battled through 4 rounds of 18 holes. Day one greeted us with warm and sunny weather in the afternoon, while day two brought noticeably colder and very windy conditions, adding to the players’ fatigue. Unfortunately, a few had to pull out due to injuries on the second day.
After 72 challenging holes, Maj Sean Stevenson RLC emerged victorious, winning the overall Championship trophy (Handicap Cup), the scratch trophy (Courage Cup), and the senior’s prize (Harrison’s Shield). He was buried under a mountain of trophies for his efforts!

A special shoutout to Pte Jason Browring AGC for the best round of the competition, winning the Taylor/Bartley trophy with an impressive 43 pts!
A huge thank you to the whole WHGC team for all their help: President Mike Wilson, Captain Andrew Bryan, Club Manager Oli Baines, House Manager Emma Cross, Club Ops Manager Ben Paylor-Jones, all the bar and kitchen staff for their impeccable hosting and delicious drinks and meals, Course Manager Adam and his team for maintaining the course in top condition, and to all the club members for allowing us to take over their course for two days.
We are also immensely grateful to Thales, Army Sport, and HECKLER and KOCH for their unwavering support.
And a special thank you to AGA officials, particularly Keith Seddon in his final year as Tournament Director, and last but certainly not least, to the competitors who traveled from far and wide to participate.
